Whale Wars Ends With an Explosion

Whale Wars is a new reality show brought to us by Animal Planet. In addition, boy am I hooked. Whale Wars came to the end of its short season this Friday night. However, luckily for us fans out there, a new season has already been announced for 2009.

For those of you who have not yet watched, Whale Wars is about an organization named Sea Shepherd, who risk their life to protect whales. The Japanese is the Sea Shepherd biggest enemy as they hunt down and brutally kill many whales a year. The law states that certain amounts of whales are allowed to be killed each year in the name of research. The Japanese even write research on the sides of their boats to clam their innocents. However, the Sea Shepherds do not believe the Japanese. They believe the whales are killed just for the processing of their meat, which is sold to Asian markets.

Sea Shepherd does employ hands on attacks, without violence, to try to stop the Japanese from killing whales. Each whale they can stop from being killed is a victory for the Sea Shepherd, and they will risk their life protecting them.

In the finale Episode, the Sea Shepherd encounters one of the main Japanese boats. The boat they find is a processing boat for the whale meat. If they can get this boat on the run, it will stop the other Japanese boats from being able to hunt any whales. I normally do not post an entire episode of a show on this blog. However, the whole episode was exciting and I believe that if you can take the time to watch it, you will become a fan of Whale Wars. The battle scenes with the Japanese are intense and explosive. I hope you will take the time to watch theses.

Top Chef Gets the Holiday Feeling

Wednesday’s new episode of Top Chef was a change from the norm. A top three chef get in the bottom, competitors help each other and a surprise goes home.

Top Chef’s first challenge was a good one but not as good as the judge. To judge the chefs skills of cooking a holiday meal, in 45mins and in one pot, Martha Stewart made her first guest appearance. Whatever you want to say about Martha, I think she’s great, she really knows her cooking. Martha made a great guest judge and left the viewer wishing she would come on the show more. The top three for the Quickfire Challenge was Hosea, Ariane and Jamie. The winner was Ariane, not Jamie. Poor Jamie still not able to be number one, read more about that in my other post here.

Next, the chefs started their Elimination Challenge. The challenge was to make dishes inspired by a day of the 12 Days of Christmas to feed 250 guests at a holiday fundraiser. Hosea and Radhika both had some bad luck. The refrigerator was left open so they lost their pork and duck they prepared the day before.

Next happened something I have never saw before. All the other contestants chipped in to help Hosea and Radhika fix their dishes. As Stefan said helping is the right thing to do. If he wins, he wants to beat the best, when they are at their best.

The top four were Radhika, Hosea, Stefan and Jeff. Hosea was the party guest’s favorite and the judges. The bottom three was Eugene, Mel and Jamie. Wow Jamie, I was surprised. It sure sounded like her rare scallop dish was bad, I just thought she would do better.

So who goes home? I am sitting yelling at my TV “it better not be Jamie”. “It has to be Eugene! He’s always in the bottom three.” The judges are deliberating and boy they are not happy. I can’t tell who is going home but it’s sounding like Jamie.

Then Tom joins all the contestants, something he does not normally do. He rips them all a new one saying none of it was good, not even really the top four, so know one should be proud. They had all better step up, No one is looking like a Top Chef!

Therefore, the chef packing up his or her knives and going home is… nobody. The judges have decided that since so many dishes were bad, the fridge problems and as a holiday gift, everyone is staying for another show. As a fan of Jamie’s, I really don’t think this could have come at a better time. It sounded like her dish was the worst. It saved the judges from choosing between a worse dish and a better chef(Jamie); or a so-so chef with a so-so dish(Eugene).

Who do you think should have gone home? Do you like that no one was eliminated? Please comment below, I’d love to hear your opinion. Thanks for reading. Bravo owns all Top Chef images.

MTV Keeps It Real With 8 New Reality Shows

According to K. Nordyke at THR.com, MTV has decided to bump up its original programming with eight new shows for 2009. MTV is looking to be able to fill the timeslots of 9pm-11pm on Sundays and 9pm programming for Mondays and Thursdays.
The new series include:

The Girls of Hedsor Hall: which takes unfinished, loud-mouthed girls and ships them off to an English finishing school.

An as of yet untitled series by Nick Lachey, about students from Cincinnati’s School for the Creative and Performing Arts.

Daddy’s Girls: which follows the blossoming careers of Rev Run’s two daughters Vanessa and Angela.

How’s Your News?: This follows disabled reporters going around the country interviewing people.

College Life: a series shot by students at Wisconsin University.

Nitro Circus: a series about motocross’ Travis Pastrana and his thrill-seeking friends.

The CollegeHumor Show: about the online business of College-Humor.com website.

Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory: a series about Rob from MTV’s Rob and Big show.

I like that MTV is coming up with more reality programming. As a fan of the Hills and Road Rules-Real World related shows, I am hoping to find a new show out of these that I will enjoy as much. Thanks for reading!

Bob Wins Survivor; Who Wins Second?!?!

Survivor ended this Sunday with a new winner Bob. Bob, a teacher from Maine, overcame all other contestants to be the one true Survivor.

Bob had a good report with most of the other contestants He tried to use honesty and a good-natured personality to keep his self in the game. When it did not look like that was going to work, he started winning. That was why I believe he won this season. He had a target on his back multiple times, but he kept winning so no one could vote him out. The other reason he won is Sugar, plain and simple. Sugar did most of the dirty work while Bob rode along. In addition, if it were not for Sugar voting Matty out Bob would have gone home in the last elimination.

Therefore, the second place had to go to Sugar right. Sugar, the person who found the hidden Immunity Idol and never had to use it on herself. Sugar the person who was responsible for almost all of the people going home because of her awesome strategic mind. Sugar was the best “game player” this season so she had to come in second right.
Wrong! Sue came in second with three votes almost winning the whole game and Sugar did not receive a single vote.

I almost fell out of my chair! Instead, the other so-called Survivors decided the best game player deserved no votes. Have these people never watched previous seasons of Survivor or Big Brother? Big Brother, where Dr. Will Kirby told everyone he is going to lie right to there faces. He did lie of course and they voted him as the Big Brother winner. As a jury participant, you have to put bad feeling aside and vote for who played the best game, not who floated along doing nothing.

I know Bob rode others coattails, especially Sugar, but at least he won challenges. Sue did nothing but run her mouth, and for her to be one vote away from winning, I am sorry angers me. Well here is to Super Sugar the real winner or at least runner up in my eyes.

Thanks for reading. Do you agree or disagree with my rant? Please comment below. Getty Images owns the picture of Survivor’s finale three.
